Backbone – A Pixel Art Detective Adventure Launches On Kickstarter

Do you like noir detective games? How about noir detective games with pixel art visuals? How about noir detective games with pixel art visuals featuring an anthropomorphic raccoon set in a dystopian version of Vancouver? If that checks off every box on your list, EggNut’s Backbone may just be the game you should help fund on Kickstarter.

In Backbone players will take on the role of Howard Lotor, a raccoon private investigator. Howard must collect evidence, interrogate witnesses, and follow leads to solve various cases. Backbone also features an interesting stealth mechanic where Howard must mask his scent to not tip off suspects when in pursuit, or to escape a chase.

Rewards for pledging range from a simple thank you (as well as loads of raccoon memes) to physical rewards such as artbooks, posters, dioramas, and t-shirts. The minimum pledge to receive a digital copy of Backbone is $25 CAD. The Kickstarter campaign runs until May 27th, with a funding goal of $63,000 CAD. There are also several stretch goals for the project, including ports for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Mobile, as well as backstory DLC and a Detective Case Maker. If the funding goal is reached, EggNut is targeting a Q3 2019 release.
