5 Characters That Would Make For Great Monster Hunter World Crossover Events

The Monster Hunter franchise is certainly no stranger to collaborating with other franchises to expand the content of their games. The latest example of this was last week’s crossover with The Witcher, adding Geralt of Rivia to the fold with a unique questline that melds the two franchises together. After playing through the Monster Hunter World x The Witcher event we couldn’t help but think what other characters from other franchises we would like to see make the jump over and hunt down some wyvern beasts. Of course, since Monster Hunter World is not on the Nintendo Switch, the chances of a Nintendo character being included in the game is about zero, but there are plenty of other good fits to choose from. Here are our five picks for potential Monster Hunter World crossover content.

Kratos – God of War

Early on in Monster Hunter World’s release there was an event that brought the weapons and armor of Playstation 4 exclusive’s Alloy from Horizon Zero Dawn, so why not also have the titular character from 2018’s biggest PS4 exclusive tag along as well? The God of War’s Kratos would fit right in with the hunters of MHW, with his Leviathan Axe making a badass addition to the many weapon options in the game. Another route they could also take is the Dual Blades build using the Blades of Chaos, which is a match made in heaven. No matter which direction they choose to take, Kratos would make an excellent addition to MHW, but sorry Boy, you’ll have to sit this one out.

Cloud Strife/Sephiroth – Final Fantasy VII

Monster Hunter World and Final Fantasy have gotten quite familiar with each other as of late, with crossover content appearing in both MHW and Final Fantasy XIV. Why not keep that partnership going by including one of two (or both) Final Fantasy favourites Cloud and Sephiroth? Cloud’s Buster Sword and Sephiroth’s massive katana from FFVII would make perfect fits for the Long Sword build, and there are plenty of ways they could continue to meld the two franchises together for something special.

Ryu Hayabusa – Ninja Gaiden

It’s been some time since we’ve seen Ninja Gaiden’s Ryu Hayabusa, and he’s no stranger to appearing in other franchise’s titles, having made an appearance in many Dead or Alive games. Ryu’s slick armor and Dragon Sword would make for an excellent prize during an event, and his ninpo could be used in a similar fashion to how Geralt’s Igni spell was utilized.

Chris Redfield – Resident Evil

The Monster Hunter franchise has jumped the shark on more than one occasion with some odd crossovers in the past (looking at you Gudetama), so why not continue that trend by adding another Capcom mainstay in Resident Evil’s Chris Redfield. The BSAA operative would most likely need to be a variation on a heavy bowgun build, but if Street Fighter’s Ryu could take down a Nergigante, why can’t Chris Redfield punch a boulder onto an Anjanath’s head?

Dragonborn – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Bethesda has pretty much milked the Skyrim cow bone dry by putting the game on every console (and smart home device) it could since it was released back in 2011, but the Dragonborn would fit in quite nicely for an MHW crossover. Not only would the armor and weaponry make for a great unlockable, but the dragon Alduin would make for a hell of a great crossover monster as well. Just for some icing on the cake they could even add the Unrelenting Force shout, similar to The Witcher’s Igni spell, so you could Fus Ro Dah a pack of Jaggi’s across the Ancient Forest.

So there you have it, our five selections for a Monster Hunter World event. There are plenty of other worthy candidates from other franchises, so what characters would you like to see? Let us know in the comment section below!
