Doom 4 Opening Recreated in Doom 2

Older games being remade using the editors isn’t exactly a strange thing – it happens all the time.  But newer games being recreated in 20 year old engines  isn’t something that happens very often.  Yet here we are, with some enterprising fans having recreated the opening level of this year’s DOOM using DOOM 2, originally released in 1994.  The attention to detail is astounding, and the creators have gone as far as to create new sprites for the weapons and update the HUD to be an astonishingly close recreation of the one featured in this year’s DOOM.   I could go on and on, but just watch it and be amazed:
