EA Games on Nintendo Switch – What We Know So Far

If you watched last Thursday’s EA Play Live and are a fan of the Nintendo Switch, you probably noticed a comment the company made. They said they’ll be bringing 7 games to the console over the next 12 months. “So what?” you say. “A major publisher bringing games to a successful platform isn’t exactly big news” you tell me, thinking I can hear you through your screen. Normally it wouldn’t be, but Electronic Arts hasn’t exactly been the biggest supporter of the Switch.

For whatever reason, EA just hasn’t believed in the Switch. To date, they’ve only released 5 games on the system, 3 of which have been yearly instalments of Fifa. So for EA to announce that, yeah, they’re finally getting onboard with Nintendo’s hybrid system – it’s pretty exciting!

With that in mind, here are the games we know for sure EA is bringing to Switch:

Fifa 21 – Of course EA would continue to release Fifa on the Switch. Be careful, though. Switch will only be getting the Legacy Edition, which is simply a roster update of last year’s game. All the new features of the other versions, and even the Story Mode, won’t be there.

Apex Legends – Announced during the EA Play Live stream, EA and Respawn Entertainment are bringing their immensely popular game to Switch in the fall. Crossplay will be supported.

Burnout Paradise Remastered – The legendary racing game was remastered and released on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One two years ago. Switch owners can play it as of last Friday. It’s only a little bit late.

Lost in Random – Announced during the EA Play Live stream as a new indie under the EA Originals banner, Lost in Random is an adventure game that looks charming as hell. The developer, Zoink, is also the studio that released one of the only non-Fifa EA games on the Switch. It’s due out sometime in 2021.

That brings us to 4 games, with 3 still unknown.

What the other 3 games are is anyone’s guess. So what the hell, why don’t we guess?

Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy – Rumours have been circling for months about a Remastered version of Bioware’s Mass Effect games, and it would be a great fit for Switch. They’re making it anyway, and Switch has a good track record of getting last-gen remasters.

The Sims 4 – This one almost seems like a no-brainer. It’s a popular series, playing it portably would be a huge convenience, and the phenomenal success of Animal Crossing on Switch shows there’s a market for this kind of game.

Another EA Original – There’s some more EA Originals coming, and so far they’ve been pretty good about making it to Switch. Chances are there will be more announced this year and one of them will make it’s way to Nintendo Switch.

Here’s a list of all EA titles currently on Nintendo Switch.
