Nintendo Account Registration Officially Open
In advance of the launch of Nintendo’s first mobile game, Miitomo, next month, Nintendo has officially opened the registration for their new Nintendo Accounts. These are the accounts that, in the future, will tie into Nintendo’s new rewards program, mobile games, and, presumably, their upcoming NX platform. You can create a Nintendo Account by signing in via an existing Nintendo Network ID, Facebook, Twitter, or Google+. It’s been possible to create a Nintendo Account in Japan since December of last year, but this is the first time registration has opened up to the rest of the world.
Currently there are no complete uses for the Nintendo Account – the first official product to support Nintendo Accounts will be Miitomo next month. Nintendo has previously announced that users in the first wave of Nintendo Account sign ups that pre-register for Miitomo will receive some sort of bonus in the game. It’s worth keeping in mind that not all functionality is currently available. For example, trying to Edit the Mii associated with your account will lead the the Nintendo Account FAQ, which gives a 404 Error (as of this writing).
Sign up for your Nintendo Account here.
