Controller Crusade Roundtable: Who Is Your Favourite Videogame Character?

Hey everyone, and welcome to another Controller Crusade Roundtable discussion. Every Friday our team of writers tackle a different gaming topic or question, and the question this week is “who is your favourite videogame character?”. There’s always one character in a gaming series that stands out above the rest, whether its because of their sense of humour, their move set, or maybe because they’re just way too badass. Let’s have a look at some of the Controller Crusade staff’s favourites:

Josh’s Pick: The Legend of Zelda is by far my favourite game series, so my first logical answer would be Link. He’s the “Hero of Time”, the “Savior of Hyrule”, “that damn kid who breaks all the pottery”, but he has one flaw: he’s a mute. His inability to talk makes him lose a bit of appeal, but there’s no doubt he is one of my favourite characters.

However, when it comes to my favourite character of all time I’d have to go with Nathan Drake. He’s got the looks, the charisma, the humour, and he just plain kicks ass. I think Nolan North’s voice as Drake is some of the best voice acting in gaming history, and I cannot wait to go on another journey with Drake in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

 

Wedge’s Pick: It’s really hard to pick one definitive character that I prefer over the rest, as I’m constantly moving-on to different interests. But there is one particular character from a certain Science-fiction series that I always fondly remember; Urdnot Wrex from Mass Effect. I enjoy his blunt and cynical attitude, as well as his tendency to enjoy just blowing things up. There is a lot of genuinely funny moments with him, if not a little dark and dry in terms of the humor, but it’s the exact kind of humor that is right up my alley. I take pride in the fact that I was one of the few amongst my friends that spared his life in the series.
