5 Games To Get Excited For In January
The first week of 2019 is already in the books, and there are plenty of amazing games on the horizon. January features a couple of revamped games from the previous generation of consoles, two long awaited returns from franchises that have been sorely missed, and a remake of one of the most beloved horror games of all time. Here are 5 games to get excited for in January.
Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition
Release Date: January 11th Platforms: PC, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One
The first of two major January releases on the 11th is Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition. The tenth entry in the Tales series, Tales of Vesperia was originally released just over 10 years ago. The Definitive Edition will not only include revamped visuals, but also content that was only previously seen on the Japanese exclusive Playstation 3 version of the original game.
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
Release Date: January 11th Platforms: Nintendo Switch
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe brings all courses from both the WiiU’s New Super Mario Bros. U & New Super Luigi Bros. U to the Nintendo Switch next week. The Deluxe package will include Nabbit and Toadette as playable characters as well. You can never have too much Mario on the Switch!
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown
Release Date: January 18th Platforms: Playstation 4, PC, Xbox One
The 2nd Bandai Namco title to be released this month is the much-anticipated 7th installment in the Ace Combat franchise: Skies Unknown. We have yet to see an Ace Combat title on current generation consoles, and January 18th cannot come soon enough. With the PSVR compatibility putting you in the cockpit, dogfights have never been so intense.
Resident Evil 2
Release Date: January 25th Platforms: Xbox One, Playstation 4, PC
One of the pioneer games in survival horror is returning on the 25th with Resident Evil 2‘s remake set to release. Widely considered the best entry in the series, players will soon get to revisit Leon and Claire in Resident Evil 2 with the modern 3rd person over-the-shoulder gameplay. RE fans have been waiting for a remaster of Resident Evil 2 for what seems like forever, but not quite as long as the fanbase of the next game on this list…
Kingdom Hearts III
Release Date: January 29th Platforms: Playstation 4, Xbox One
It’s absolutely crazy to think that a large portion of Kingdom Hearts III‘s audience weren’t old enough to hold a controller (or possibly even alive) when the previous entry in the series was released. Kingdom Hearts fans have waited over 13 years to get their hands on Kingdom Hearts III, and the wait is almost over as the game hits shelves at the end of the month.
The gaming industry is certainly off to a hot start with these January releases. What games are you looking to pick up this month? Which of these games do you think will be an early candidate for 2019’s Game of the Year? Let us know in the comments below!
